Omaha trip

In mid-October we took a trip to Omaha to visit Aunt Carrie and Uncle Josh.  We celebrated both Josh and Tyler's birthday with a Cardinals ice cream cake.  Tyler now thinks that Josh can make such a cake and needs to make him a 'bird' cake for his birthday in November.  We mostly hung out playing games and watching sports on tv.  We did let Ty 'paint' with shaving cream and food coloring on the deck - he thought this was great!  Thanks for a great weekend guys!

Cabin Fever

The Newman clan spent a long weekend at a cabin in Thayer, IA the first of October.  It had a very pretty veiw of a tiny lake and great fall color.  Too bad it was VERY cold - we were stuck inside quite a bit of time.  And, Tyler got sick.  But we still had a good time together as a family, eating and playing games and watching movies!

Fall Fun!

Late August and September brought our annual trip to the Iowa State Fair, football, and fall fun.

Ty enjoyes the Little Farm - here he is planing something in the field with Dad.
He wasn't so sure about driving his own tractor for some reason.

Tyler eating popcorn at a football game with his friend Pete Flora.

We recently found a love of legos, and this was a robot we built.  Our favorite is normally tunnels and bridges for our cars.

Tyler had really never seen leaves before since our neighborhood is too new to have large trees.  He really had a great time playing with cousin Johnathan jumping and getting buried in the leaves.

Reception

Carrie and Josh had their reception in Bellevue, NB in August and everyone was able to go!  The family had fun decorating while the kids watched movies, and we had a great crowd.  Below are some pictures of getting ready and the event.

Minnesota 2012

Minnesota this year was a slightly smaller group than past years, but we still had a great time!  Tyler found a new best bud in cousin Cooper Dreyer, who is 6 months younger than he is.  They played hard all week in the sand and on the swing set.

Uncle Kyle, you need to shave!

Just like dad - crispies for breakfast!

The rest of Mexico...

The rest of the trip was great - some time with the whole gang, then just the 3 of us and the newlyweds....we couldn't get them to leave us alone!  It was a great trip and we're ready to go back already.  Congratulations Carrie and Josh!

Grandma Pete (my mom's mom), my Mom, and her sister Linda.  Three of the best women you'll ever know!

Jumping waves in the ocean with Aunt Carrie & Uncle Josh,

Tyler's favorite was the little fountain area!

This lion fountain was by the main buffet and we had to look at them every day!

Need an explanation?  This is Tyler on the few times we melt down without a nap.  We let him stay up one afternoon in the pool because his Great Grandma Pete joined us.  We took her to the ocean and were feeding crackers to the fish.  Tyler dropped his cracker in the ocean, and we wouldn't let him pick it back up.  This was the result.  :)

This was the 'middle' sized slide at the resort - Tyler only went down it a time or two.

This butterfly slide was his favorite though - I would guess we went down it 100 times!
