Minnesota Part 2

Apparently, a Newman tradition is that you have to take a bath in the sink in Minnesota. So, after all the playing in the sand, off to Grandma's cabin. First, Daddy filled the sink just a little too full....and the minute we put him in, it was splash city! We had to mop the floor when we were done! And as you can see, Tyler closes his eyes when he splashes himself - we called these his 'Pirate' pictures!

Minnesota Part 1

August marked Tyler's first trip to Minnesota with the Newman family! We had such a good time and took so many good pictures, we'll have to post this trip in parts!

We left bright and early at 5:30 AM Saturday morning. As you can see, he was raring to go! He loves to shake his head "no, no, no"....we had to force him to quit becuase we thought he was going to make him self sick on the ride up! But it didn't take long and he was out like a light until our breakfast stop just across the Iowa border into Minnesota. He enjoyed breakfast, getting to sit in a high chair and eat off of all of our plates. And talking to all the people around us!

This year we had our own little studio cabin. It was nice to have some space to ourselves, and I'm sure Grandma & Grandpa Newman were ok without us in their cabin keeping them awake! Here he is taking a bath after playing in the sand, and playing on mom & dad's bed.

The weather for the week was perfect - one afternoon we hung out by the lake and experimented with the camera. Then Ty took a nap. ;)

This was also Tyler's first time swimming. He liked it ok - but didn't want to stay in the raft very long! He loved playing in the sand, however. Andrew, the Perkins kids, and Tyler built sand castles, dug holes, and had lots of fun!

Stanton Homecoming

We headed back to Stanton Homecoming 2010 at the end of July. The Hensley's came back to join in the festivities and we had lots of fun playing with the kids. Zach completed a 10k, Val the 2 mile run, and the rest of us did a walk - kids and all! We at pancakes at the firehouse, and Saturday night the 'adults' had a lot of fun at the street dance!

Splash Park

We took Tyler to a local splash park this summer - he loves the water!

Summer Time

In late June we went to Uncle Kyle's birthday party. Apparently we have learned a lot from Dad and Uncle Kyle - we like ISU (see the chair), we like drinking out of red cups, and we stay up real late partying (this picture was taken at around 11 PM!)!

We also like eating flavor ice with Dad - Tyler actually cries when you won't give it back to him to suck on himself!

We hung out with Grandpa Knute one weekend morning this summer - coffee, bananas, and pajamas on the deck sounds like a great start to a day to me!

Okoboji Vacation

In June we went with the Newman family for a four-day trip to Okoboji. We drove up with Uncle Kyle and brought the boat along. Of course, a trip can't start with out a hiccup. Tyler was sick with some kind of 24-hour bug as he threw up Thursday night while we were packing, and then twice Friday morning before we got in the car. After a fast change of clothes, we were on our way a little later than planned. But we napped most of the way there and drove without stops.

Once in Bjoi, we settled into the cabins and then went to a fish hatchery. Mason had a blast fishing and we all enjoyed being outdoors in the nice weather.

We took a trip to Arnold's Park and did some shopping and sight seeing. Belle & Matt rode the roller coaster, and we all went into the mirror house. Johnathan didn't have as much fun there as the rest of us - poor guy!
